Literactive: Teaching Children to Read

Literactive. (2009). Literactive: Teaching children to read. Retrieved April 21, 2013 from www.literactive.com

Literactive is an interactive site designed to help early learners develop their reading and comprehension skills.  There are tools to help educators when teaching specific skills, as well as interactive games to help students with their reading.  As a parent, you can register for a free account or use my classroom account, so that your child can benefit from these interactive activities at home.  In the classroom, we use these interactive games on the Smartboard, as well as individuals on the computers. Follow the steps below if you are interested in playing these activities at home.

  • Once on the homepage, if you are not already logged in, use the following username and password to log in...
    • username: CHughes20
    • password: kinimafu
  • Once logged in, you can begin learning using the following tab:
    • Learning Activities: You will need to click on the red Click here... at the bottom of the tab.

  • When you have entered the Learning Activities tab, you will find several different reading levels on the left hand side of the page, as well as activity and the skill the activity is focusing on at the top of each leveled page.

  • Once on this page, choose the skill you'd like to work on. For example, we want to work on matching sounds and objects so we will complete activity Radio. Click on the red Play Live link at the bottom of the picture labeled Radio.

  • When you are finished playing the game or your computer time is complete, click the exit button on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Once you have completed this, you may choose another learning activity or move to your next center.
